I answer to a lot of titles―mom, wife, author, entrepreneur. But at the end of the day, I'm just a human figuring it out as I go. And, this is the space where I share my experiences with you.

Hello friend! We are Becky and Noah Hurley, sharing our entrepreneurial journey to inspire you in your endeavors and teach you about a unique passive income strategy. We’re here to turn your CAN’TS into CANS and your DREAMS into PLANS! This blog goes with the first episode of our Building Dreams Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify: How we Got Started in Real Estate Investing.
Wow – it has been 10 years since we got started in flipping houses, building custom homes, developing land and investing in real estate, and Noah and I are coming up on our 10-year wedding anniversary as well.
Noah had actually been in business for himself long before we met (and that’s actually HOW we met – full story on the podcast!), and the two of us went into business together before tying the knot. We started out fixing and flipping homes together. Working with your husband is no joke – well, sometimes with Noah it is, because he’s hilarious – but we truly do have a strong partnership and working dynamic as husband and wife, and that’s been really important for our success! Check out our video on marriage and money here.
My background is in teaching – bachelor’s and master’s degree plus a few years of classroom experience. When Noah and I got married, I was working a “normal” job – and I LOVED it! Then, it was Noah who first pulled me into the world of entrepreneurship.
When I started getting serious about entrepreneurship on my own, a friend recommended the book, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” by Robert Kiyosaki. Noah and I read three of his books together on a long road trip to Florida just 10 months into our relationship. These books opened my eyes to the world of real estate investing and building wealth so you can begin to ENJOY life at a much younger age than most people think of retiring.
This set us on a journey! We started taking classes all over the country in real estate, investing, entrepreneurship… we were READY to learn as much as we could (or maybe I was and dragged Noah along with me!), and we were learning things they don’t teach you in a 4-year bachelor’s or master’s degree program. One of Kiyosaki’s books that really got us thinking was “Rich Dad’s Four Cashflow Quadrants.” I highly recommend giving it a read for a deep dive into the advantages and disadvantages of each of four quadrants:
As we were learning, we were DOING. We bought foreclosures, fixed and flipped lots of homes, and 10 years later we are ready to share our combined years of learning and experience. Our focus will be on that fourth quadrant: investing – specifically, real estate investing.
