I answer to a lot of titles―mom, wife, author, entrepreneur. But at the end of the day, I'm just a human figuring it out as I go. And, this is the space where I share my experiences with you.

Welcome, dream builders! Today, I am sharing a deeply personal and raw experience with you as I stand in my office on the day I’m moving out. This space, once a home design studio where dreams were built and sold, is now transitioning into a new chapter. In this blog post, I’ll delve into the emotions and insights that led me to make this change and explore the universal question of how to know when it’s time for a change.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where something you once dreamed of and worked hard for no longer feels right? I’ve been there, and I’ve learned to recognize the signs. For me, the tipping point is often a gut feeling—a pit in my stomach, a sense that I no longer belong, or that the warm fuzziness has faded away. It’s essential to listen to these internal cues and acknowledge when something no longer serves your growth.
Trusting that feeling can be challenging, especially when the ego kicks in, reminding you of your achievements and the effort you’ve invested. However, moving on is a process of self-discovery and growth. It requires listening to your heart, understanding your “why,” and silencing the ego’s doubts. In my case, I knew it was time to move on from my office space, even though we were at the top of our game in home building. My husband and I felt a collective calling to transition, and trusting that feeling became the first step toward a new beginning.
Once you’ve recognized the need for change, the next step is to navigate the unknown. It involves introspection, prayer, meditation, or whatever practice allows you to connect with your inner self. Define your “why” and embrace the uncertainty that comes with the transition. Moving into the unknown can be daunting, but often, the most beautiful things in life unfold on the other side.
Understanding your “why” is crucial. Whether it’s leaving a career, a relationship, or a physical space, knowing the purpose behind your decision gives you strength. For me, it was realizing that I am meant to create beauty everywhere I go. Once you’ve found your “why,” start taking baby steps towards your new path. In my case, it meant letting go of unnecessary expenses and embracing the flexibility of working from anywhere.
Moving on is not just a logistical challenge; it’s an emotional journey. Allow yourself to feel the nostalgia, shed tears for what’s ending, and acknowledge the memories. It’s okay to grieve the old to make room for the new. Trust that the tears are a part of the process, a symbol of growth and readiness for what lies ahead.
If you find yourself in a transition period, know that you’re not alone. Listen to your gut, trust your heart, and understand your “why.” Embrace the unknown, take baby steps towards your new beginning, and allow yourself to feel the emotions that come with change. Remember, the best dreams are often built on the other side of uncertainty. Share your stories, connect with others going through similar transitions, and let’s continue building dreams together.
